About us
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute and community provider delivering a range of health care services to people in Rotherham and across South Yorkshire.
We are ambitious about our future and the part we will play in meeting the health and social care needs of the local community and the wider region. Our innovative and forward thinking approach means we are at the forefront of care delivery for people at home, in the community and in hospital.
At the heart of the Trust are more than 4,700 members of staff who are working out of the main Rotherham Hospital site and a number of community locations. A range of specialist services are delivered across the South Yorkshire region and nationally.
We are working closely with health and social care partners in Rotherham and across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to ensure a joined-up approach is used to ensure people are getting the care they need now and in the future.
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute and community Trust providing services at Rotherham Hospital and across the borough to a population of 264,700 people.
The 370+ bed Rotherham Hospital first opened in March 1978 with Rotherham community services integrating with the Trust in 2011.
Today, we continue to provide a full range of district hospital and community services to Rotherham and the surrounding area alongside partner organisations.
The Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC) opened in 2017 and sees approximately 75,000 attendees per year, and there are approximately 55,000 inpatients and 250,000 outpatient attendances each year.
We aim to build a healthier future for our patients, their carers and families, our staff, and for anyone we care for. We are committed to implementing a vision that integrates hospital and community services and empowers our clinicians and managers to deliver real benefits to patients and their carers. We’ll do this by providing healthcare services where they are most convenient and best suit our patients’ needs.
The Trust is an Associate Teaching Hospital of the University of Sheffield and has an active research programme delivered through local, regional, national and international research networks and consortia.
The Trust operates out of a number of sites. Information about each site and the services it provides can be seen below:
Our Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is responsible for the operational management of the hospital and, with the participation from the Council of Governors, sets the strategic direction of the Trust.
The Board of Directors is comprised of full-time Executive and part-time Non-Executive Directors who manage the Trust. Our Non-Executive Directors were appointed because of their business skills and experience and strong links with the local community, and our Executives were appointed because of their business focus and operational/management experience within and outside the health sector, as a result we consider our Board of Directors to be balanced, complete and appropriate.
Who is on the Board of Directors?
The Board is made up of executive and non-executive directors. Executive Directors work full-time for the Trust, whilst the Non-executive Directors are appointed by the Council of Governors and give at least three days a month by attending Board meetings and working on specific projects. Non-executive Directors are appointed for three years.
